Just after 1:00am on 8/29/24, Sandy Branch Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the Magnolia area of Savannah Lakes Village. Upon arrival, found a large residential fire well advanced throughout.
Departments from Sandy Branch, Town of McCormick, Town of Troy, Bethia Fire Department, and others in McCormick County arrived on the scene and began fighting the fire.
All occupants were able to evacuate safely. The home will likely be a total loss but there were some personal items that were able to be salvaged.
McCormick County EMS was on scene to monitor members. There were no injuries.
Firefighters worked until approximately 5:00AM before being released by Incident Command.
We, Sandy Branch, want to thank our brothers from the other fire departments in the area that responded to fight this mutual aid call!!

Sandy Branch VFD Achieves "Fire Safe SC" Status Fifth Year in a Row (2019-2023)
The Sandy Branch Volunteer Fire Department has received recognition as a "Fire Safe SC" Fire Department for the fourth year in a row. Statewide, only about 20% of the fire departments make the level of commitment needed to achieve this goal.
Fire Safe SC Departments involve themselves with Community Risk Reduction (CRR) through education, smoke alarm installation, in-home safety visits, involvement in community events, and doing preplanned inspections of commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings. They also record data on calls through the National Fire Incident Reporting Systems (NFIRS) that can be used statewide to address areas of most concern, whether geographic or risk specific.
If you live in SLV or the surrounding area, and would be interested in having an in-house safety visit, or having non-hardwired battery operated smoke alarms installed, please send us a message by clicking here or send us an email to sandybranch@wctel.net.
Smoke alarms that are over 10 years old should be replaced as the alarm sensors degrade over time.
