Tribute to Firefighter Vance Jordan

Today, we say goodbye to a member of our Sandy Branch Fire Department family. It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of Firefighter Vance Jordan – 827- who passed away on 4-30-2026.

Though we did not have the honor of knowing him for a long period of time, to us Vance was more than a firefighter; he was a beloved friend, a trusted confidant, and an irreplaceable part of our fire family.

His determination, humor, and heart will forever inspire everyone who had the opportunity to serve alongside him.

Vance was a member of Sandy Branch Fire Department from January 2024 through April 2026. His desire to aid his community, and his fellow firefighters, along with his never-ending innovative spirit, led to the development of a “fire hydrant halo”. As a means to assist firefighters in locating fire hydrants at night, the Halo, which is powered by solar energy during the day, remains illuminated throughout the night.

Please keep Vance’s loved ones and our entire department in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Thank you, Vance, for your service to the department and the community. It was an honor and a privilege to serve with you.
